Being confronted with wired 12 Santa Clauses last year in Iceland I thought that might just be because of the island of nowhere. They might have had to come up with something and it happened to be 12 of them. But this year new traditions and it does not get better. Last year it was a Christmas cat that ate children which did not wear fresh clothes (honestly, that is Iceland J ) this year they have angle and devil walking hand in hand. I tried to catch some of them…

Last weekend I headed to my first tram-party. A huge lot of fun. 40 party people in a tram just chatting, drinking and being silly. The greatest way to be brought to your party destination! And on Saturday we went to the Old Town Square to celebrate the official electricification of the Prague Christmas tree. Actually we went just for a concert and were suddenly stuck between thousand of people that listened to someone on the stage speaking Czech for almost half an hour. Of course we would have left but honestly, we were stuck. And now have a look why all the people gathered (well, and we :-)) )

As nice as the sight was as mad were the people getting out of this place again. Pushing, pulling, squeezing, children crying and no way to find a way out. I was really just one single piece of this crowd and it took about 15 minutes to be able to breath again…

On Tuesday I took a day of and joined the AIESEC global village. They invite all foreigners to present their country with music, info material and national food. So please tell me, what is typical German food (that is not only from one region). It was a lot fun with people from exciting countries like Cameroon, Ukraine and India (among others) It somehow reflects all the people I get to know within my stay here in Prague…

But tomorrow I am gonna be in Rostock for a night, in Schwerin for meeting and in Hamburg for the next night. So I am getting back to my roots…

Take care

8 months just gone...

8 months??? He just did not write for 2 weeks. Well guys, that was because of the conference http://www.orthodontics-ios.eu/ I was organizing for 8 months. And last weekend it finally took place. A very stressful time before and meanwhile (right now treating my second cold sore in two weeks) but it was really good. The doctors where happy and the speakers enjoyed their participation. So my main goals are very much fulfilled. But it also much worse planned than I thought. There is space for improvement next time J The part I enjoyed most was the Friday evening Gala-Party. We celebrated in a monastery and it looked gorgeous!!! That was really the best choice I could have taken for this event. The food was delicious, the band was wonderful and the interior of the Theresian Hall was breathtaking. Just see some pictures…

Well, this event is finished and already the next ones are waiting for me. The IOS 2007 as well as another conference only for dentists as well as some smaller seminars are waiting to be perfectionized.

But mainly my thesis should be waiting for me. 10. December is the day on which I will start officially. So in summer I will have to be done! And finally I wont be a student anymore. Looking a lot forward to that!!!

This week I will just be calm and relax, gather some more energy an enjoy life. And slowly I have to think about Christmas presents. The atmosphere is spreading all over the city now and in contrast to last year I really feel it is coming. Yesterday I tried for the second time in my life roasted chestnuts. Last time was in Munich and I did not really like them very much. But after Piros told me about 15 times that she LOVES them I gave it another try and wow, I really like them. So I am looking forward to stroll along the Christmas market, enjoy Svarak (hot wine) and no Mutzen but some typical Czech sweets. By the way, did you now that for Saint Nicolas day (6. December) here a Santa Claus, an angle and a devil are coming? I didn’t so I was wondered seeing chocolate devils next to chocolate Santa Clauses. I will try to solve this mystery…

Take care

Carlsbad - Karlovy Vary - Karlsbad

Did you guys know that I wanted to start my working-abroad-period with a traineeship in the famous Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary? http://www.pupp.cz/ But (un)fortunately my application was not successful. That is why I ended up in Prague...
And more than 8 months after I arrived I finally made it to a trip to the famous spa-town. Eight of us were supposed to head there by bus. But eight o'clock in the morning was only late enough for 7 coz when I called my dear friend from Poland and asked where he is, he answered "mmmmffffpppppp, innnn baaad...." [in bed]But luckily I was able to sell his ticket for the bus just before we left. Very energetic and full of excitement (well, as much as you can have on a Saturday morning) we were looking forward to the day...

Just arrived we discovered that it was really cold, but smart me… I was prepared with scarf and hat and even gloves! Okay, I looked stupid, but I was warm :-)

We ran a little around, heard a lot German and Russian and saw some nice sights.

But basically we waited for our dear Polish friend L. to get the next bus and arrive as well. Finally all 8 together it was already time for lunch. What an exciting search for a place you can get some hot wine. We finally –honestly: FINALLY - ended up in an overpriced touristy place where none of us was really happy.

The only thing you can do in Karlovy Vary (if you do not use the spas) walk along the river, look at actually pretty nice old buildings, and end up at the Grandhotel Pupp from where a funicular lifts you to the top of one the hills that surround the town. And that is actually what I liked most. The view on the landscape was impressive. Due to the season the trees where lightening in all different colors. Unfortunately it was foggy and raining so the pics don’t really look too good. But I enjoyed pretty a lot there.

After we did not find a spot inside the only restaurant on the top of the hill and no one wanted to sell us any Svařak (Glühwein, hot wine) outside we walked down the hill. Steep, slippery and funny we arrived back in town and headed for a bar with more reasonable prices. We found a very cozy place with a waiter that was one-of-a-kind. I tried my first Grog ever and since we were in Karlsbad we had to have at least one Becherovka. And this waiter could not see only three of us drinking it so he brought another mini-round for the rest…

And after this it was already time to go to the station, take a bus home and prepare for the night. Which ended up as a party at Anděl though we actually only wanted to meet and leave from there. But some hot wine made us stay there for longer somehow…

Oslo in a weekend

Hi Dears,
Exactly 7 days ago I landed back in Prague after a short visit in Oslo. Already the flight from Prague was an exciting beginning. Not the flight itself though, but when I accidentially looked out of the window I saw an island with a shape that you even figure out what it is. Fischland Darß and not far away I could have a look in Rostock. Little funny somehow, so small.
But what did I want in Oslo actually? A very good and close friend of mine had house warming, but actually I only wanted to visit her. But not a bad start for the weekend though to arrive and have a party after 2 hours already... :-)
And since Oslo is know to be f***ing expensive M. asked me to bring a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Among also a bottle of Sambuca. Okay I thought, maybe i already should get it in Prague so I will for sure ahve it with me... But no, neither Tesco hyperstore (no, not superstore, even very hyper hyper) nor Albert the supermaket around my corner had it. Non of the countless shops in the duty free area in Prague could help me. So my last hope was the duty free in the arrival area of Oslo airport. And finally I found a whole bottle of it :-) BUT!!! Stupid Christian could not find his ticket anymore *damneddamneddamned* So no Sambuca for M. ...

Anyway she still welcomed me with a hug :-) And tried to disapear in the bathroom to prepare for the party. But she was so worried and concerned about preparations that she had to interupt a friend of hers and me every five minutes. The party was very nice 37 ppl on 37 sqm. Very cozy but not as packed as you might imagine. (BTW you might also discover that I suddenly have more pictures here... have a cam now BUT of course I forget it every here and then coz I am just not used to it. So no party pics except a few signatures of guests that left the place...)
So next day was some sightseeing on the schedule. But I have to admit in advance, I think European cities are boring. Somehow all very much the same. Cars and streets, billboards and advertisment screens and shops and people. And I think just the last makes the difference. But still let me share some pics I liked a little more (coz there are indeed some :-) )

So enjoy and see me in front of the castle and enjoying the view you can see on the second pic. And after a stroll to the harbor we headed to a little fortress that looked actually very beautiful with a sunset on the sea and light up itself. Was very cozy atmosphere though it was freezing cold. And after such a long walk we were very much up for some decent food. Luckily M. knows Oslo already a little and went with me to a very very cozy place... Oh no, she went with me to the corner where she thought the place would be... hehe, thought it would be... But we headed to fancy andnot less cozy Burger Restaurant instead and enjoyed salamon and blue cheese burger. Yammy!!!
And since it was Saturday evening we had to go out for a beer. The prices are actually not as bad as people always say. The bar where we met a friend fo hers was very okay and I just payed slightly more than in Prague... (yes I know, even though the amount of crowns is the same there is a slightly different exchange rate, but it feels smoehow good not to spend more crowns than you are used to... :-) ) And the beer was very intersting. It was supposed to be typical Norwegian. Well, seems they like beer with a cucmber taste over there...
But only a short stay there and already back to bed at 2 a.m. the Sunday welcomed me with rain, rain and rain. So we just started with some chatting and no plans to go out until lunch where we were invited by a very good friend of hers to yammy yammy sushi :-))) Happy and with a full stomach we finally dared to go to the world famous park called... aeehhhhh, well world famous park with these wonderful statues and figures. Seems like hundrets of them. Most famous is a little baby that is screaming. I really dont want to miss this visit but somehow I would not have been sad not having been gone there... But really, isnt it cute!!!???

Finally we ended up in the place she wanted to show me the day before. And it was really cozy and nice. We ordered a lot of small dishes in arabic style but of course the cheese I wanted to have was out already... Was very nice until I wanted to pay. Non of my credti and debit cards worked there, nor M.'s ones. So I think it was the machine that was broken. Well, until the couple next us paid with card...

So what did this weekend tell me? Cities are not my favourite anymore as long as there are not some ppl I like. Norway is a country I want to see from the countrieside as well. And finally, it was soooooo good to see M. again!

So guys and Karlovy Vary (C)Karlsbad was my next trip you will hear about tomorrow...

Finally... Why I am a hero!

Okay, the time has come and I finally tell you about my awesome night :-)
Already some weeks ago we had an LC-Day at KPMG and about 50 AISECERs, including me, went to a music bar afterwards. Chatting with one or two beer, wine or other drinks people began to dance later on.
So it was only me and two others left when we finally left our separate room and headed to the dance floor as well.
After a while I saw a friend of the waitress passing to our room. But in the mirror on the other end of the room I could see that she sat down on one of your benches over there just doing nothing. Okay, I though, probably relaxing. And then she began to take stuff out of her purse and putting it into her plastic bag, which was standing on the table. Watching her for a while, I saw how she began to take money out of her wallet, which disappeared then, and checking the wallet more closely. That was too strange though. So I decided to walk around the corner and have a look.
OHOHHOOO, what do I see there? It wasn’t her purse, it was the one of my friend P.! And she wasn't a friend of the waitress either... So, keeping her there, letting call the police and checking what was missing. Next to a mobile, CD-player, camera and around 2000,- CZK she also tried to steal a lipstick and a half liter bottle of Nestea with only two zips left (VERY wired)
Well, so far the nice part of the evening. The policemen came and took care her, but P. and I had to go to the police station. Victim and witness both with an enormous lack of Czech knowledge J And the friendly lady (friendly in terms of Czechia, because she was not rude to us, she simply did not speak at all!) that opened the door, let us in but 8 AISECERs that were worried about us and our level of Czech had to wait outside…
Entering a police station… Well, it looked like a KGB-prison and so I very soon felt like a prisoner as well.
Only waiting 10 minutes a policeman asked us to fill out a form in Czech… Okay, he discovered I am German, so he even brought a German translation. After having done that finally one of the guys, Z., down in front of the door was allowed to accompany us.
Not even half an hour later an interpreter was there and P. was asked to come into another room to tell what happened. She came back just 2 minutes later. Well, the interpreter spoke German, but the Hungarian P. not… J So it was my turn and after 45 minutes I was done and we had to wait a little more until finally and English interpreter was there. <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;"src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/3848/1877/320/DSC00069.1.jpg" border="0" alt="" />

And after I had seen what happened and P. not at all we thought we would be out very soon. It was already 01:00. But no, I had time to explore the whole floor, watch imprisoned ppl sleeping, watching Z. to fall asleep and listening to policemen speaking Czech. Time passed by. It was 02:00…02:30… what the hell does she have to tell them? 02:50… 03:15… what the fuck… After TWO (2!!!) hours she was finally done. But I am until today not sure what they did with her because she did not stop laughing afterwards…
Well on the way home, lucky us we even got a night tram in time. Ups, was it a tram or did we end up in comedy show? A slightly drunk woman screamed to a guy sitting two seats behind her something in Czech, then in English and again in Czech while she was talking on her mobile. The whole tram had fun and was laughing about this scene… Well show, since she did not stop for 15 minutes. And when we finally left the tram the whole coach was laughing very loud… One reason more to learn Czech…

So in a nutshell, I saved P. this evening. And that is how she said thank you...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sunnyshome.blogspot.com/2006/11/finally-why-i-am-hero.html' title='Finally... What does that mean? Either I am in Hanover where I am 24/7 online, I am a workaholic or the Czech Telekom really worked fast and enabled us INTERNET connection at home. So guess, 1, 2 oder 3? Ob ihr wirklich richtig steht, seht ihr wenn das Licht angeht! Right, right, right, after only 4 months of fighting and struggeling through and with Czech companies (and thanks again, almost all of it done by lovely Barb.) we finally have internet here.
And that is not one day too early cause you also might wonder, didn't he wanna got o Munich and have a small glas of beer at the Okotberfest??? Yes, I wanted to. But an infection, antibiotics and my health were too good reasons not to go. So I spent three days in bed and had furthermore a calm and quite weekend without any partying or whatsoever.

The weekend before though... SNC, September National Conference from AIESEC in Sec was a lot of fun. Good trainee sessions, great parties and what I loved most of it, the nature there is so beautiful. Something I really miss in Prague! So I enjoyed it even more over there.

And well, next weekend I am gonna be back in good old Germany again... Even though I live here in Prague I am hardly here to celebrate :-)

So guys, one last question. Which country pays me next year for living there? Offers are taken from now on. You ask yourself why??? Well, where was the last Miss World from??? Unnur Birna Vilhjalmsdottir, Miss World 2005, is from the beautiful country of ICELAND. And now guess where Tatiana Kucharova, yesterday night eleceted Miss World 2006 is from! Of course, the Czech Republic.

So all countries being interested in having the next Miss World from their teritorium shall from now on apply with a pic of the flat I would get, the car and the amount they transfer to my Swiss bank account...

In the middle of the night

I sit here and should sleep. But somehow I dont feel like sleeping at all. Maybe I miss Prague already too much, who knows.
Since Saturday 9th I am in Germany meanwhile. After a week in Hanover I had a cozy Friday in Berlin, a hot party night in Magdeburg, meeting Geri again and what I miss most in Prague for party weekends, I had an awesome Döner Kebab. Thats what a party should end with :-)))
Sunday spending in Ornanienburg, close to Berlin with some friends from the Red Cross and today I was checking some hotels in Potsdam for a seminar we am organizing. Nice places there, next to Potsdam itself (What, never heard about Potsdam??? Well, that is a BIG lack of world's history. WORLD'S history, not only German's)
Actually I am really sorry, nothing funny to tell. But looking forward to get a beer on Wednesday night when I am gonna be back in Prague. My work gets more and more demanding as closer the even comes(and that is November, so I am already frightend how will be next month)

But let me tell you a little about what happend the last three weeks. My brother was here and at the same time Will's brohter was here as well. Was a really nice time. One day we four plus Helena (another Norwegian trainee) went to Karlstejn and visited a beautiful castle (they seem to have hundreds of those here). And directly after we continued to Plzen, where the great Pilsner was discovered. So we visited the brewery, tasted some beer and then continued the tasting outside. Even a little longer and more and more... Was pretty nice :-)

When my brother left I had to leave as well. Had another Red Cross meeting in Germany. And luckly it was in Rostock, so I visited some old friends of mine. And it was, even more lucky Christian, it was Hanse Sail weekend. A huge festival for sailors and tourist,... and Christian :-))) Was awesome, great just perfect!

Then a day in Lübeck, visiting my parents and a good old friend. And after that I worked again a while in Hanover. But now I am back in Prague and work like hell. But since it is Friday I will leave now, get a haircut and then dive into the weekend...

More to tell soon!

I CAN SLEEP !!!

Ice age came back to Prahe, yiiiiieeeeeppppiiiiiii! Temperatures are far beyond zero(at least it feels like) and I love it.

But let me tell about my last weekend. 14 friends and trainees headed to the fairytale town Cesky Krumlov to spend a relaxed and funny weekend there. Unfortunately we weren't the only ones... So the bus was already fully booked and we had to take the train. This firthermore let us arrive at about midnight. Not really a good time to check in I would have said. But arriving in Cesky Krumlov at exactly this time meant for us, we had to cross the wonderfull lit up castle area, the Vltava(Moldau) and head into a mid age built town. It was IMPRESSING!!! After a little more discovering, walking around and enjoying the differences to Praha (prices are lower, not so many tourist even though it are still a lot and believe it or not, people in the shops, restaurants, bars and whereever else are FRIENDLY - and yes, it is still in Czechia), we headed to a float trip down the river. Being driven upstream about 25 kilometers we had a lot of fun in our three rafts (and the bars on the side of the river) Finally we reached our station at about 10 pm again which meant having the most frequented river in the world (I read that somewhere but it is only canoe, rafts and kajaks though) only and alone for us. Was so nice passing the castle and the cozy atmosphere of Cesky Krumlov from this point of view. Well and afterwards a long warm shower and trying to find some vibrant night life. Well, Sunday consisted only of enjoying the castle garden, relaxing and picking cherries on the way to the train station. I should have stayed there even longer cause the train we took was FULL of people. About 500 were easily standing and waiting in the coaches until some one would get out...

On Monday we had another sad farewell dinner for Marry. Sad especially because she developed to become a very close friend of mine. But that just prolongs my list of places I will have to go to (China, Paris, London, Spain, Greece, New Zealand, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, Iceland again and now and new NORWAY)

And today weekend begins again and another party is on stake. Some friends moved into a new place, so its their house-warming, one of them's birthday party, welcome party for Lise, who arrived just 10 days ago, and sad again, Kristoffer's farewell party. He will leave back to Norway as well.

So far my plans. But I will for sure also enjoy that there will be a cold room,my bed and Christian in deeeeeep sleep.

See you guys (11th-13th August in Rostock)

by the way...

Bram is leaving tomorrow and I cannot say good-bye... but meanwhile I am a
I will remember two things of this great guy
Nooo, not the girls...
One is his palace which I just saw two weeks ago at his b-day party. How mean is that??? But we still have the Charles Bridge, the most famous bridge here in Prague beacause it was built long long ago and is still standing (great reason, hu?) And that in spite of approx. 21424 Mio people who cross it every single day. So I prefer to go there between 11pm and 8am when it is only 21424 people. And additionally you have a great look up tp the castle at night when it is light up.

but I have to admit it was very dark when we were there... My lovely flatmate Govanni has got some visit from his family. A few days ago his parents arrived, today his sister is coming and tomorrow his brother will be here as well. Our appartment develops to be very Italian these days!
And how Italian mamas are, she brought tons of food for her poor son. But actually only to be able to start cooking right after she arrived in her "new" home. His parents are staying with us and it is really fun (since some one always cleans our dishes and cooks incredible good food) Additionally they are really nice!

vhis morning was very Czech again. Whoever was here in Prague knows that the escalators can be very very long here and they actually are for normal Germans a little over speeding since it would take too much time to reach the next floor in normal pace. But well, this moring out of four only two worked which resulted in a big crowd on the ground floor. Yeah, it were the two going upwards that did not work... But good excercise anyway!

Other news are only that I recover slowly from a bad cold I got some days ago. Don't ask how I did that in the probably hottest year since ever!!!

Oh yeah, and in his young years of 27 Christian tried his first Shisha! So calm and cozy here in these Čajnovás. i think I like it...

So far I am expecting two farewells this weekend after two birthdays last weekend. But most likely again with going home when everyone heads to the clubs. Need some more recovering I guess...

take care

The circle of life...

is present always and everywhere! These days the wonderful World Cup ended in Berlin with an amazing party. Unfortunately not with Germany as winner but both teams in the final deserved to play there. Having such a unique event in my country I had to join it and celebrated in the biggest party I have ever been. More than 1.2 million people on the "Fan Fest" in front of the Brandenburg Gate and Will, Nate and me in the middle. That was just amazing, great, simply German :-)

But as usual not everthing works as it should so I have to leave to Germany again tomorrow. My uncle just passed away last week and all the fun in Berlin was suddenly mixed with the indescribable feeling such an occasion causes. But the circle of life is present as ever. Just two hours after I got the bad news a friend of mine told me she just became aunt...

All the best for you

What a great life!!!

Having had another unique weekend (did I mention ever that I love the FIFA World Cup 2006(registered trademark) in Germany) I couldn't help me to set the flag out of my window! Luckily we live in the third floor so stones and other objects usually don't reach our appartment :-) And honestly, having beat the unbeatable Argentinians what should stop me from joining in in cheering Germany July 9th in Berlin? Okay, my boss could say "Monday morning 8 a.m.!!!" But I just convinced him to give me another day off... So yeah, Berlin, Berlin, wir fahren nach Berlin!

And I built up a strong relationship to weekends combined with Czech beer gardens. They have big sreens for the matches and never ending streams of frech tapped beer. Great combination with the also never ending sunshine here...

And everyone who reads this and has never stayed abroad, DO IT!!! Again I met so many wonderful people from so many countries. It is just awesome and makes me smile even a little more :-) (Does it give a shampoo with cookie smell???)

But not everything is as great as it sounds, my secret love (is it still secret now???) Claire leaves to the islandish part of beautiful EUROPE also know as the UK. So who shall improve my English now in her inimitable teacher-style?! And not enough this lovely British accent which shows me more and more that Will's influence on the development esepcially of my vocabulary is quite strong... fuck!!!

But good news to add, she's comin back! :-))) So this evening will be only a kind of half-good-bye-party. But fun anyway and afterwards time to improve my drinking speed since Claire ALWAYS is faster in emptying her beer than everyone else on the table (Kelly isn't here anymore :-) )

And now I have meantally to prepare for the next victory tomorrow night... If Gianni will ever speak with me afterwards???

Keep smiling!!!

I live in a fridge

or better, I'd love to live there. It is meanwhile so hot here in Prague that I really miss going to the beaches (lovely Warnemünde...)
Yeah I have had a nice time since last entry. Having been in Germany another two times and actually was swimming in the Blatic Sea and was a little sunbathing on the beach. So I think that was the portion of beach I got for this year...

Some interesting other activities??? Well, I spent again ONE weekend in Prague and enjoyed a lot being part of the parties I always here about when I come back here Sunday nights and everyone is totally exhausted. But these days the World Cup is actually what we schedule around everything else. After I was in Hamburg two weeks ago I got the fever as well. I tell you, I never loved my home country DEUTSCHLAND as I love it now!!! (by the way DEUTSCHLAND is the German way to say GERMANY, but I don't blame you you are not the first asking that) We are just the best place to be right now. I seriously loved it. Even that much that I have to head to Berlin next weekend to celebrate the final. Whoever is gonna play against us there. (Well, or whoever is playing generally)

What else can I tell you? Here in Prague we have a big screen at Old Towns Square where we and my mates spent almost all our spare time to drink a Czech speciality while watching the matxh and the crowd getting crazy. Did you know that Coreans are literatly crazy about football. The really rocked the place (with their children voices you know from cartoons). They were probably the coolest supporters I saw so far!

So dudes, and meanwhile I managed to organize some pics to show you around a little. Some more will come but I start a little belated but now!!! It is just a bunge of people I dont know but

had a lot of fun with one party-night. Except the second from left, Will, my room mate from the US and the second from the right, Gianni, my room mate from Italy. Well, and this dead body on the left is Richie from New Zealand, the country I am gonna invade in 2009. And in the golden middle we have the lovely Claire O'Hara. I fell for her when I heard her adorable British accent. Unique!!!

Last week by the way, I had visit from Canada. Kelly a friend I met on Iceland was here for a couple of days. And I think she liked it here. Especially the beer... And now she is celebrating reunion with other fellow erasmus students in Roskilde...
But more about me :-)

Last weekend I was again in good old Germany to do some Red Cross stuff. This time it was a state-wide competition of Youth Red Cross groups being active in schools. Best weather conditions ever and Christian having such a great board and especially Ronny (blue Shirt)

that my work was just a small opening speech and the winners ceremony. And afterwards heating up the dancefloor with some nice disco foxes and of course all the other groups.

This week almost being over and I hardly caught up sleep. But since I bought a fan I can at least fall asleep again. But a new entry would not be correct without a little Czech story, would it? So we met yesterday evening for dinner with a lot of trainees. Ten people, nine nationalities and a Czech Restaurant. Prices as ususal very good and since I am on a healthy trip I ordered a Greak salad which I thought would be a Greek salad. But next to the impolite staff there (I should stop mentioning that...) my salad neither had olives nor feta nor chillies. Actually it was a mixed salad. But some one told me I should be happy since there were at least cucumbers and tomatoes inside...

Looking forward to tonight. Moving out party behind the moon. But as a reward for each who is going there, they will provide a barbecue... yamyamyam. So I am definitly in...

Well, and tomorrow is not only Friday, it is going to be another step for my team to head to Berlin :-D

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

that's the goalkeeper's name of the team from Trinidad and Tobago. E&E from Brno were our guests this weekend here in Prague. So I was having a boy in my bed again ;-) but, ladies and gentlemen, TWO (2) blankets!!! After a wonderful scrambeled egg breakfast we decided to have lunch afterwards and met up with some people from Mexico (having SIX time 2 World Cup tickets in their luggage!!!) in another restaurant located in the... basement. And after this Czech delicous Czech meal we went to Letna park to throw the frisbee a little bit. But on the way up there G remembered that there was a match ofthe Czech national team and we figuered out that it was only five minutes away from the beergarden we just joined. (Yes we needed some refreshment after climbing the hillto the park). Well, so I had to move to Prague to join my first international football match. And Jack!

And I had to move to Prague to discover why people think cheap is shit (by the way the ticket was only 11 EUR but neither the match nor the seats were bad!). I bought the worst fish fingers ever. I thought I know how they have to look like and how they are. So there was no danger in buying cheap ones. Yes, that might work in Germany but here things are different. Preparing dinner with a friend of mine she must have thought I was bitten by a shark when I tried them. NEVER by products from EUROSHOPPER! They are cheap (not even cheaper) and at least not a bit what I expected it to be...

And the Ukraine was recommended me as a place where man (sorry for those not speaking German) should go! I am already making a new list with countries to visit. Right now we have China, some safe country in Africa (any special recommendations?), USA and now the Ukraine. Additional plans for moving to Estonia and New Zealand are made up as well. But I am still open for more ideas... :-)

Oh, and I hope those of you having had a bank holiday on Monday enjoyed it. I didn't... (another reason to go back to good old Germany)

Take care...

A sad week

cause he is gone now! Last Tuesday was the real last beer with Didi. After already about 23 last beers the days before. Now he is back home and I have a reason more to go back to Iceland :-)

And I will get a salary raise. Well, or at least I will try to get a danger bonus. Why? Because office work IS dangerous. Especially if you share the space with a 3 year old boa constrictor. Is he working in a zoo??? No!!! Just the girlfriend of my boss does not like a snake near their 4 week old baby. So I have to deal with that now. GREAT!!!

But it feels nice, very soft skin. Kind of cool and silky. And so many muscles. Luckily it is still not fully grown. But 1,5 meter is still enough to make me having a look if the cage is still locked before I start working!

And weekend is there. Isn't that great? YES it is. Even the sun started shining again. I just hope it will stay a little. Oh, and poor me. I have to work on Monday again.Maybe I move back to good old Germany.

Germany by the way and german speaking Switzerland. Those are the places Will would move to if he has to stay somewhere outside the US. "The Germans just love the Americans! They are so nice everywhere! I fucking love this country!!!" Zu Gast bei Freunden fällt mir dazu nur ein :-)))

Enjoy yourself ;-)

hangovered...

would not be the right word to describe how I feel right now...
Cause actually I am suprisingly fine even after a whole weekend of good-bye-Diddi-party. Starting on Friday in bar I never was before and I almost never would have been gone since I simply did not find it. And additional noone answered the phone. How shall they if they are in a beautiful basement without any reception... Czechs seem to like to have tons of this kind of bars! Staying out a little longer I decided to sleep a little longer as well. But at five I was up for... for what actually??? Oh yes, after Will and his US-visit were finally done we were heading for another beer in the Micro-brewery. Beer taped on our table from a one meter high glas pole full of this sweet juice... Did I say sweet?!? Yeah, they even had flavoured beer with cherry, blueberry, banana even coffee-taste. Wired but definitly funny! And @8 we headed to Fama, a fancy restaurant. Of course fancy! If I learned anything on Iceland it is that those people there love fancy places. And I think Diddi check all of those in Prague!!! Was a real nice place, but as usual the service was a kind of Czech. Everyone got a little paper where the waitresses wrote down what you ordered and at the end you paid it. Except two who did not figure out that it was already pay-time cause we wanted to stay a little longer anyway. But there was no service available for 45 Mintues... typical Czech. But well we just changed location, I burnt my lips on a B52 and went home while it was raining cats and dogs... Could at least cool my lips down again :-) And next to a little party I played football (soccer for those who did not learn it yet). First time since five years again. Was even afraid to kick the ball. But when I started, man, we needed three ambulances... No, kidding! Was a lot fun and sun. Was time for getting tanned! Did I mention the beer garden afterwards. I think it was my worst weekend ever (if we dont count the DanaCup). But after a shower we had another good-bye dinner with Diddi in Pravěk, a stone age decorated restaurant in......... right a basement. And I had my first STEAK since ages. At least a year I think. yamyamyam If you come and visit me, we are going to go there!!! Like the place a lot! And like the back door. Did not know that we had such a nice bar just around the corner. But not only corner. Guess what else. Right in the base... But this week shall be a little recovering, except if I am gonna see Diddi before he leaves :-) Will not see him for a long time. But already look forward to some Brennivín. And I will keep you on track about my state of recovery...

Where is summer?

Dear reader,

I am glad you found the wayto these lines! I am especially happy because it took me a long time to think what I should write and what not. The last weeks were the most difficult ones I ever had. A new city and new people lead sometimes to a new life and new perspectives.
So here I am now. Was a very busy time again. Just came back from Hanover yesterday night where I spent three days in finishing a project. But the more intersting thing happend on Saturday! My cousin Jan married his girl finally after seven years. It was a kind of dream wedding. Old church in a village, gospel singers, white pigeons and a white Rolls Royce. But the part I liked more (some of you may understand) was the party afterwards in a wonderful location in Lübeck directly at the river Trave. It was a lot fun with food, family and fancy drinks. Well, and since my sister and I were discussing if we ever saw the bride before, even though it should have been seven years, I introduced myself to her. Well, she remembered me... Do I have to say anything else?

And just a day before I came driven from Prague to one of my uncountable Red Cross meetings in Mecklenburg Western Pommerania... So I missed again a great party in Czechia. The famous house warming party in Brno :-(

But here I am again just in time to say "Sjaumst" to Diddi who is going back to his wonderful home country, the famous land of ice and fire, I C E L A N D
Was real fun to hear some Icelandic here in Central (NOT!!! Eastern) Europe. And also another reason to go back to Iceland one day... :-)

And for tonight... Will gets some visit from the US. Only girls as I heard, hehe

Enjoy the day and smile a little for me. Next time I hope to come up with some nice pics here to let you know how a Czech Christian looks like. And maybe even Czechia...

Take care,
Chris

Back in Hanover again...

Okay, Christian was this strange German guy. But why is he in Hanover? And why the hell even again???
Well guys, that is a almost two months long lasting story, so let's begin...

Last time I wrote to you I just arrived in Praha, golden city of Central Europe. Meanwhile I even had the chance to see a little bit of it. But it is actually quite difficult. Within the first few weeks I was in Germany for serveral business trips. So at least I did not have to struggle through the mess and dirt of my first appartement. Hanover? First appartment?? What the hell is this guy speaking about?

Well, since I like it a LITTLE comfortable and cozy and also prefer to have a whole room for only me and the girl I choose to be with me, I decided to move. And so did Gianni (Italy) and Will (US-American). And only three minutes away we found a fantastic flat. We even have a fireplace now... (and an old TV "Made in GDR" So how old is this one???)

And I think I have to put some things in the right light. I am not criminal, nor is it the company I am working for. It was just a little confusing that one person from Hanover (so guess now, why I am here, AGAIN) owns four different companies with partly overlaping workfields and also similar workforce. I have two different business cards now (even though I deserve more!!!) But now I figured out how things work and my job itself becomes more and more intersting and demanding. Since Carolina Servis is a quite small company I have got very fast a lot responsibility.

And right now I am in our branch office in Hanover and support my colleague here in creating a flyer.

And what does the rest of my life do??? Since I got this traineeship via AIESEC I also participate a little in the AIESEC life in Praha. So I got to know some crazy people and also joined my first congress here in Czech Republik. It was two weeks ago... the time the summer arrived. Next to some hours of ultimate frisbee we also decided to go swimming in a f****ing cold lake right next to the place we stayed, Sec.

And the best time I spent in Czecia was Eastern where I met Michaela again who had studied with me in Rostock. Three wonderful days close to Brno (yeah, damned, I am talking about cities so go and get a map!) with nice weather, a lot nature and the most friendly Czech people I met. And since it is not very common in Prague to be polite or in any way customer orientated (lovely lovely Germany, believe me! Or have you ever got a beer served with the back of the waitress to you face???) I really enjoyed it a lot. Even her Grandparents tried to speak some German words with me even though they learned them during WW II and have not been speaking it after. But if I did not understand them, they just stiffed me with food and food and wine. The best one ever I drank actually. "Alibernet 2005" and personally produced by her uncle in his own small small wine cellar...

But now Christian has to go to sleep...

Ahoj

It's not all about beer!!!

Hey boys and girls,
finally I managed to arrive in Prague. Iceland was a wonderfull experience, especially the nature. Here in a 1,2 Mio city it is quite difficult to see something natural. But the architecture here is so amazing!!! And as well as in Iceland the people are open, friendly and simply nice...

And well, the beer is okay :-) hehe

Come and join me

Sometimes a day has only ten hours...

and it seems to me that every day since I am back in Lübeck has even less hours. That might be the reason why you did not hear something from me so far. Almost my whole day is filled with studying for my exams next week and the week after.
